AI technologies are applied throughout Adobe Commerce to improve customer engagement and streamline operational processes. The list is growing every release — here is the current state.
Customer-facing AI
- Product Recommendations — personalized cross-sell, upsell, related products.
- Category Merchandising — automated category sort by behavioral signal.
- Live Search — intelligent search with typo tolerance and intent matching.
- Generative Variations — AI-assisted creation of product variant content.
- GenAI Asset workflow — image creation tools for product visuals.
Operational AI: Agentic AI
Adobe is rolling out a class of AI agents that act on your store’s behalf rather than just analyzing data:
- Site Performance AI Agent — recommends performance improvements based on real user data.
- Site Optimizer AI Agent — runs predictive A/B tests and surface recommendations.
How to think about Commerce AI
The pattern across these features is the same: Adobe uses data from the broader Experience Cloud (and from anonymized cross-merchant data where contracts permit) to deliver personalization that would be hard for any individual merchant to build alone.
The trade-off is the usual SaaS one: less control over the algorithms, faster time to value. For most merchants, the trade-off is worth it.
